Army Universe Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how ARMY UNIVERSE, doing business as Army Universe (“Army Universe,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), collects, uses, discloses, retains, and protects personal information when you visit https://armyu.com/, create an account, place an order, communicate with us, participate in a promotion, subscribe to marketing, visit our retail or business locations, or otherwise interact with us (collectively, the “Services”).

This Policy also explains the privacy choices and rights that may be available to you. Additional notices may be provided when you use a particular feature, product, program, or service. If a transaction occurs through Amazon, eBay, Walmart, or another marketplace, that marketplace’s privacy policy also applies to information it independently collects and controls.

Please do not provide personal information if you do not agree with this Policy. This Policy is not a contract that creates rights beyond those provided by applicable law, and it does not limit any privacy right that cannot lawfully be limited.

1. Summary of Our Privacy Practices

  • We collect information you provide, information generated when you use our Services, and information received from service providers, payment providers, marketplaces, carriers, advertising partners, fraud-prevention services, and other lawful sources.
  • We use personal information to operate the website, process orders and payments, deliver merchandise, provide customer service, prevent fraud, improve our business, communicate with you, advertise our products, and comply with law.
  • We disclose information to vendors and other parties that help us operate our business. Certain advertising or analytics disclosures may be considered a “sale,” “sharing,” or targeted advertising under some state privacy laws, even when no money is exchanged.
  • We do not knowingly sell personal information for money.
  • Where required by law, you may opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising through our cookie or privacy controls, by using a legally recognized opt-out preference signal such as Global Privacy Control, or by contacting us.
  • We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

2. Personal Information We Collect

The information we collect depends on how you interact with us. “Personal information” means information that identifies, relates to, describes, is reasonably capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked to an individual or household. It does not include information excluded from applicable privacy-law definitions, such as properly deidentified or publicly available information.

A. Information You Provide

We may collect:

  • Contact information: name, email address, telephone number, billing address, shipping address, and company or organization name;
  • Account information: username, password or authentication information, saved addresses, communication preferences, wish lists, and account activity;
  • Order and transaction information: products viewed or purchased, quantities, order numbers, purchase history, returns, refunds, discounts, shipping selections, and transaction status;
  • Payment-related information: billing information, payment method, transaction identifiers, payment status, and limited payment-card details such as card type or last four digits. Full card information is generally collected and processed by payment providers rather than stored directly by Army Universe;
  • Communications: emails, chats, messages, telephone communications, customer-service requests, reviews, survey responses, contest entries, photographs, documents, and other information you send us;
  • Verification information: information reasonably needed to verify identity, age, payment authorization, address, business affiliation, agency status, legal eligibility, or authorized purchase of restricted or law-enforcement-marked merchandise. This may include a government-issued identification document, department identification, letterhead, or related documentation when necessary;
  • Marketing information: email or SMS subscription status, consent records, campaign interaction, referral information, and promotional preferences; and
  • User content: product reviews, ratings, questions, photographs, comments, and other content submitted to the Services.

Please do not send Social Security numbers, full financial-account credentials, medical information, or other highly sensitive information unless we specifically request it through an appropriate secure process for a lawful purpose.

B. Information Collected Automatically

When you use the Services, we and our technology providers may automatically collect:

  • Internet Protocol address and approximate location derived from it;
  • Browser type, operating system, device type, language, screen characteristics, Internet service provider, and device identifiers;
  • Pages viewed, links clicked, searches, referring and exit pages, dates and times, session activity, cart activity, and interactions with products, advertisements, emails, and website features;
  • Cookie identifiers, advertising identifiers, pixels, tags, local-storage data, and similar technology identifiers;
  • Diagnostic, security, error, performance, fraud, and access-log information; and
  • Information indicating how you reached or interacted with our Services and marketing.

We generally use IP-based approximate location and do not intentionally collect precise GPS location through the website unless a feature clearly requests it and you permit it.

C. Information from Other Sources

We may receive personal information from:

  • Payment processors, banks, digital wallets, ACH or wire providers, and fraud-prevention services;
  • Shipping carriers, fulfillment providers, address-verification services, and delivery partners;
  • Amazon, eBay, Walmart, social-media services, and other marketplaces or platforms through which you interact with Army Universe;
  • Advertising networks, analytics providers, referral partners, search providers, and social-media platforms;
  • Review, loyalty, email, SMS, chat, and customer-service platforms;
  • Identity, age, business, agency, sanctions, export, and legal-compliance verification sources;
  • Publicly available sources and information you make public; and
  • Business partners, vendors, affiliates, and parties involved in a corporate transaction.

Information received from another party may be governed by both this Policy and that party’s privacy policy, depending on each party’s role.

3. How We Use Personal Information

We may use personal information to:

  • Provide, operate, maintain, personalize, and improve the Services;

  • Send marketing email or text messages when permitted and manage subscriptions and opt-outs;
  • Measure traffic, understand customer interests, improve products and website design, conduct analytics, and troubleshoot performance;
  • Display, measure, personalize, and evaluate advertising and marketing, subject to applicable consent and opt-out requirements;
  • Administer reviews, surveys, contests, promotions, loyalty, referral, and customer-feedback programs;
  • Maintain business, tax, accounting, transaction, legal, compliance, and audit records;
  • Establish, exercise, investigate, or defend legal claims and enforce our policies;

  • Protect the rights, safety, property, and security of customers, Army Universe, and others;
  • Evaluate or complete a merger, financing, acquisition, sale, restructuring, or transfer of business assets; and
  • Carry out another purpose disclosed when information is collected or with your consent.

4. How We Disclose Personal Information

We may disclose personal information to the following categories of recipients for the purposes described in this Policy:

  • E-commerce, hosting, and technology providers that operate, secure, maintain, or support the Site and its features;
  • Payment and financial providers that authorize, process, settle, verify, or protect transactions;
  • Shipping and fulfillment providers that pack, address, transport, track, insure, or deliver orders;
  • Customer-service and communication providers that support email, SMS, chat, telephone, help-desk, or account communications;
  • Analytics and performance providers that help measure traffic, diagnose problems, understand use, and improve the Services;
  • Advertising and social-media providers that help deliver, personalize, measure, limit, or report advertising and marketing;
  • Review, loyalty, referral, and promotion providers that operate customer-engagement features;
  • Security, verification, and fraud-prevention providers that help detect unlawful, suspicious, restricted, or unauthorized activity;
  • Professional advisers such as lawyers, accountants, auditors, insurers, consultants, and collection providers;
  • Government, regulatory, judicial, and law-enforcement authorities when disclosure is legally required or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, or security;
  • Marketplaces and business partners when needed to fulfill a transaction or provide a requested service;
  • Corporate-transaction parties in connection with a proposed or completed merger, financing, restructuring, bankruptcy, acquisition, sale, or transfer; and
  • Other parties at your direction, with your consent, or as otherwise disclosed at collection.

We may also disclose aggregated or deidentified information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you. We require recipients to handle personal information as required by their role and applicable law, but we do not control independent third parties’ own privacy practices.

5. Cookies, Pixels and Similar Technologies

Army Universe and its providers may use cookies, web beacons, pixels, tags, software development tools, local storage, and similar technologies. These technologies may operate when a page loads, when you interact with the Site, or when you interact with an email or advertisement.

We may use:

  • Strictly necessary technologies for checkout, cart, account login, security, fraud prevention, load balancing, consent management, and core website operation;
  • Functional technologies to remember selections and provide enhanced features;
  • Analytics technologies to measure visits, performance, navigation, and customer interactions;
  • Advertising technologies to measure campaigns, create audiences, limit repetition, attribute transactions, and deliver advertising based on activity over time and across websites or services; and
  • Social-media and embedded-content technologies that enable integrations and may allow the applicable provider to receive information about your interaction.

You may manage nonessential technologies through any Cookie Settings, Privacy Choices, or “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” control made available in the Site footer or consent banner. You may also manage cookies through your browser. Blocking cookies may affect carts, accounts, checkout, preferences, and other features.

Some browsers offer a traditional “Do Not Track” setting for which no single universal response standard applies. Separately, certain laws require covered businesses to honor recognized opt-out preference signals, such as Global Privacy Control (“GPC”). Where legally required and technically detectable, we treat a valid GPC signal as a request to opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising for the browser or device sending the signal and, when required and reasonably identifiable, the associated account.

6. Sale, Sharing and Targeted Advertising

Army Universe does not knowingly sell personal information in exchange for money.

Some privacy laws define “sale,” “sharing,” or “targeted advertising” broadly. Under those definitions, allowing advertising, analytics, social-media, or similar providers to receive identifiers, cookie data, device information, commercial information, or Internet activity for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising may qualify as a sale or sharing even when no money is exchanged.

Accordingly, during the preceding 12 months, Army Universe may have sold or shared, as those terms are broadly defined by applicable law, the following categories:

  • Identifiers and online identifiers;
  • Commercial information, such as product or category interests;
  • Internet or electronic-network activity;
  • Approximate geolocation derived from IP address; and
  • Inferences regarding interests or advertising audiences.

These categories may have been disclosed to advertising networks, analytics providers, social-media platforms, and related marketing providers. We do not knowingly sell or share full payment-card details, government-issued identification documents, account passwords, or SMS opt-in data for third parties’ own unrelated marketing.

Where applicable, you may opt out through the Site’s privacy controls, by sending a recognized GPC signal, or by contacting us as described below. Opting out does not stop all advertising; it limits certain personalized or cross-context advertising uses.

7. Payments

Payments may be processed by banks, card networks, digital wallets, payment processors, wire or ACH providers, fraud-prevention services, and other financial providers. These providers may collect payment-card numbers, bank information, security codes, authentication information, and transaction data directly from you.

Army Universe generally receives transaction status, authorization information, payment method, tokenized information, and limited account details needed to process and document the transaction. Financial providers may process information under their own privacy policies and legal obligations.

8. Email and SMS Marketing

You may unsubscribe from marketing emails by using the unsubscribe link in the message. You may opt out of recurring marketing text messages by replying STOP. Reply HELP for help. Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply.

Consent to marketing text messages is not a condition of purchase. We may share telephone numbers and related messaging information with platform providers, telecommunications providers, and vendors that help deliver and administer the messaging program. We do not knowingly sell, rent, or disclose SMS opt-in information to unrelated third parties for their own independent marketing.

After you unsubscribe, we may retain limited suppression information to honor your request. You may continue to receive nonmarketing messages concerning orders, accounts, security, customer service, or other transactions.

9. Reviews and User-Generated Content

Reviews, photographs, comments, questions, and other content you submit for public display may be visible to the public. Do not include personal information you do not want publicly disclosed.

Review and user-content platforms may process your information to collect, authenticate, moderate, display, syndicate, analyze, or respond to submissions. Our Terms of Use explain the license applicable to submitted content. Nothing in this Policy restricts your right to provide an honest review.

10. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including to provide Services, maintain business and tax records, prevent fraud, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, meet contractual obligations, and comply with law.

Retention depends on the nature of the information and interaction. Our general retention criteria include:

  • Order, payment, tax, accounting, return, and shipping records: generally for the legally required recordkeeping period and ordinarily up to seven years after the transaction, subject to disputes, legal holds, and longer legal requirements;
  • Account information: while the account remains active and for a reasonable period afterward for security, fraud prevention, recordkeeping, and reactivation;
  • Customer-service communications: for as long as reasonably needed to address the request, document the relationship, train personnel, prevent abuse, or resolve later disputes;
  • Marketing and consent records: while you remain subscribed and afterward as needed to document consent and honor opt-outs;
  • Fraud, verification, restricted-product, security, and compliance records: for as long as reasonably necessary to protect the business, customers, and legal rights;
  • Cookie, advertising, analytics, and device data: according to the applicable technology’s settings, consent choices, and business need; and
  • Reviews and public content: while displayed or useful for the purposes submitted, subject to valid removal requests and legal retention needs.

We may retain information longer when required by law, court order, investigation, dispute, chargeback, warranty, product-safety issue, or legal hold. When information is no longer required, we may delete, destroy, aggregate, or deidentify it. Residual copies may remain temporarily in backups or systems until overwritten or deleted through ordinary processes.

11. Data Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information based on its nature and the risks involved. Safeguards may include access controls, authentication, encryption in transit where appropriate, vendor management, fraud monitoring, employee procedures, backups, and incident-response measures.

No website, transmission, database, or security measure is completely secure. We cannot guarantee that unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration will never occur. You are responsible for using strong, unique passwords, protecting account credentials, reviewing account activity, and using secure devices and networks.

If a security incident occurs, we will investigate and provide legally required notices to affected individuals and authorities.

Cybersecurity Incident and Data-Breach Disclaimer

Cyberattacks, hacking, ransomware, malware, credential theft, phishing, telecommunications failures, unauthorized third-party conduct, and vulnerabilities or failures involving hosting companies, e-commerce platforms, payment providers, applications, plug-ins, carriers, cloud providers, and other external systems may occur despite reasonable safeguards.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ARMY UNIVERSE WILL NOT BE FINANCIALLY LIABLE OR RESPONSIBLE FOR DAMAGES, REIMBURSEMENT, COMPENSATION, CREDIT-MONITORING COSTS, IDENTITY-THEFT COSTS, LOST FUNDS, LOST PROFITS, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, EMOTIONAL DISTRESS, CONSEQUENTIAL LOSS, OR OTHER LOSS ARISING FROM A CYBERATTACK, SECURITY INCIDENT, DATA BREACH, UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS, DATA LEAK, DATA LOSS, OR MISUSE OF INFORMATION CAUSED BY A CRIMINAL ACTOR, CUSTOMER CONDUCT, OR THIRD-PARTY SYSTEM OR SERVICE, PARTICULARLY WHEN THE EVENT OCCURS DESPITE ARMY UNIVERSE’S USE OF REASONABLE SAFEGUARDS.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, any claim relating to privacy, cybersecurity, unauthorized access, a data breach, or a third-party application is subject to the mandatory arbitration agreement, class-action waiver, jury-trial waiver, exclusions of damages, and $100 aggregate liability cap contained in the Army Universe Terms of Use.

Nothing in this section eliminates a legally required security obligation, breach notification, regulatory duty, or consumer right that cannot lawfully be waived. This section does not exclude liability for Army Universe’s fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, or other conduct for which liability cannot be limited under applicable law.

12. Children’s Privacy

The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Individuals under 18 may not independently create an account, place an order, or purchase restricted merchandise.

If you believe a child under 13 provided personal information to us, contact us at info@armyu.com. We will review the request and take appropriate steps consistent with applicable law.

13. Your Privacy Rights and Choices

Depending on where you reside and whether the relevant law applies to Army Universe or the particular processing, you may have the right to:

  • Confirm whether we process your personal information;
  • Access or obtain a copy of personal information;
  • Correct inaccurate personal information;
  • Delete personal information, subject to legal exceptions;
  • Obtain portable data in a usable format;
  • Opt out of sale, sharing, targeted advertising, or certain profiling;
  • Limit certain uses or disclosures of sensitive personal information;
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
  • Appeal a denial of a privacy request; and
  • Receive equal service and pricing without unlawful discrimination for exercising privacy rights.

These rights are not absolute. We may deny or limit a request when permitted by law, including when we cannot verify identity, an exception applies, the information must be retained to complete a transaction or comply with law, or fulfillment would adversely affect another person’s rights.

Submitting a Request

You may submit a privacy request by:

  • Emailing info@armyu.com with the subject line “Privacy Request”;
  • Calling 212-203-9080; or
  • Using any Privacy Choices, Cookie Settings, data-request form, or “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link made available on the Site.

Please identify your state or country of residence, the right you wish to exercise, and the email address or order information associated with your relationship with us. Do not send sensitive identification documents by ordinary email unless requested through a secure method.

Verification

We may verify your identity by matching information you provide with our records, sending a verification message, requesting order details, or using another reasonable method. We will request only information reasonably necessary to verify and fulfill the request.

An authorized agent may submit a request where permitted. We may require proof of the agent’s authority and may contact you directly to confirm authorization or identity. Parents or legal guardians may submit appropriate requests concerning a child.

Appeals

If we deny a request and applicable law provides an appeal right, you may appeal by emailing info@armyu.com with the subject line “Privacy Appeal” and explaining why you believe the decision should be reconsidered. We will respond within the period required by applicable law and, when required, explain how to contact the appropriate regulator.

14. California Privacy Notice

Sale and Sharing

We do not knowingly sell personal information for money. During the preceding 12 months, we may have “sold” or “shared,” as those terms are defined by the CCPA, identifiers, commercial information, Internet activity, approximate geolocation, and inferences with advertising, analytics, and social-media providers for cross-context behavioral advertising.

We do not have actual knowledge that we sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that require a right to limit under the CCPA, unless we provide the required notice and choice.

They may also opt out of sale or sharing and may limit certain uses of sensitive personal information where applicable.

Residents of states with applicable comprehensive privacy laws may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain portable personal data and to opt out of targeted advertising, sale, or certain profiling. Some states also provide appeal rights or authorized-agent procedures.

Army Universe will process requests under the law applicable to the requester and the business. Definitions and exceptions vary by state. Use the request methods in Section 13.

16. International Visitors

Army Universe is based in the United States. If you access the Services from another country, personal information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate. Those countries may have privacy laws different from those in your location.

Where the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, Swiss, Canadian, or other applicable privacy law requires a legal basis, we may process information based on:

  • Performance of a contract or steps requested before entering a contract;
  • Legitimate interests in operating, securing, improving, and marketing our business, balanced against individual rights;
  • Compliance with legal obligations;
  • Consent, where required; or
  • Protection of legal rights, safety, or vital interests.

Where applicable, you may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict, object, withdraw consent, or receive portable data and to complain to a local data-protection authority. Contact us using the information below. Withdrawal of consent does not affect processing that occurred before withdrawal or processing supported by another lawful basis.

17. Third-Party Websites and Services

The Services may link to, embed, or integrate websites, applications, payment tools, maps, social-media features, videos, reviews, and other services controlled by third parties. A link or integration does not mean Army Universe controls that party’s privacy practices.

Third parties acting as independent businesses may collect or use information under their own privacy policies. Review those policies before providing information directly to them. This Policy describes Army Universe’s practices and does not replace an independent third party’s notice.

18. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy to reflect changes in law, technology, vendors, products, or business practices. The “Last Updated” date identifies the current version.

Material changes will be posted on the Site or communicated through another reasonable method when required. Changes apply prospectively unless applicable law permits or requires otherwise.
